A GUIDE ON HOW TO SHOP FOR YOUR HOME INTERIORS THE RIGHT WAY

You've seen the house designs, you know what furniture works best together, and you even know how to draw up a floor plan. Now if only you could fully execute your ideas and understand what interior designers do each day! In this article I'll teach you everything you need to help you shop like an interior designer. So sit back and enjoy the ride!

KNOW YOUR FLOOR PLAN:

Because of its size, this is the most important thing I have when shopping! Measure, measure, measure before you even think about buying new furniture. I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to know the dimensions of the room you are working in. I still like to create floor plans of places using just pencil and paper. You want things that fit.

KEEP YOUR MOOD BOARD:

Creating a mood board is one of the things I do before making any purchase/purchase at my place of work. I keep a photo of it on my phone so I can check it out and know what I'm getting. This helped me create a shopping list, and then I entered each store with excitement.

FINDING AN ACCENT:

When designing a room, I like to have a beautiful accent. It can be a sofa, chair, rug or even a large piece of furniture that fits perfectly

STICK TO YOUR BUDGET:

Sticking to a budget is something I always take seriously, whether it's my own room budget or my friends' room budget. I recommend keeping an Excel sheet, or even a sheet, on your iPhone to save everything. Before you buy, you can see however much money you want to spend on furniture, decor, paint / accessories - divide the money into each category.

DON'T FORGET ACCESSORIES:

Sometimes we focus so much on the big picture that we forget small details like accessories. Accessories always create a space, I think, like the last step where everything comes together! You don't need to spend a lot of money on accessories, I like to break it down into one or two pieces.
